Many people today ask about the safety of fluoride. The question is understandable. Dentists and hygienists preach that fluoride is necessary for healthy teeth. Toothpaste and mouthwash commercials advertise that it has cavity-fighting benefits and that "four out of five dentists" you know the thing. So if you suspect you might be better off avoiding fluoride, you're just a crazy conspiracy theorist, right?
You may already be familiar with Del Bigtree and his courageous investigative reporting. His podcast episode on March 9, 2023, was titled "Deadly Toxin Lurking in Your Water." It doesn't disappoint!
In the 1930's, if you walked down the street and showed any stranger a container of fluoride, they would exclaim, "POISON!! Keep that away from me!"
The next decade, the late 1940's, if you did the same thing, you would hear, "Oh, that's good for teeth and bones. I saw a TV commercial about it, and my dentist said so."
What changed? A mass marketing campaign in the late 1930s / early 1940s intent on changing the public perception about fluoride. The goal was to create a system in which it became acceptable, even desirable, to add a drug to our water. Why? That's a long story involving politics and perhaps some interesting "conspiracies." But one thing is for sure and that is the "science" this was based on is sketchy at best.
The claims about cavity prevention stem from a "study" conducted in the early 1940's by the late and infamous Harold Hodge. No study since then has really been able to show that fluoride prevents cavities. The original finding is not repeatable. This should raise huge red flags! Logic would ask that if a result cannot be repeated, how can it be valid? It's not just about "logic," this requirement that a result must be repeatable is a crucial component of the very definition of science.
When you hear "the science shows fluoride prevents cavities," the science being referred to is the original study from the 1940's that has every modern scientist scratching their head wondering how that conclusion was achieved?
Regardless of the origin of this idea, "better science" shows that tooth decay is controlled by mechanisms which have nothing to do with fluoride.
What DO the actual studies show? Fluoride may cause damage to enamel, increase cavity rates, increase tooth and bone brittleness, cause arthritis, cause iodine deficiency, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, weight gain, bone cancer, lowered IQ, diminished creativity, diminished spirituality, poor abstract thinking, ADHD, mineral imbalances, magnesium deficiency, calcium toxicity, vitamin D deficiency, calcification of the pineal gland in the brain, adolescent cancers, and more.
Fluoride has the ability to cause harm to every cell and almost every function in the human body. (If you are trying to repair a sluggish thyroid, attention should be given to flushing out fluoride. There are iodine protocols you can look into that explain how this can be done.)
Here's a short video explaining some basics about fluoride's toxicity.
The fluoride debate is about 80 years old now. There are plenty of online resources addressing the safety and efficacy of fluoridation (or lack thereof). And there are hundreds of articles demonstrating its toxicity. Here are some good references:

I would be happy to discuss my views in person in more detail if you like. My decision is to run a fluoride-free dental practice and keep a fluoride-free home for my children.
To avoid this toxin, install whole-house water filters to remove fluoride from your showers and baths -- especially if you have young kids. In addition, install drinking and cooking water filters that can remove fluoride, or use a distiller. Be aware that very few types of filters actually do remove fluoride. Do not assume yours does if you don't know for sure. If you are relying on your refrigerator filter, don't. It has no effect on fluoride. If you are relying on that 1 or 2 canister under-sink filter you bought at the Home Depot, again, don't -- it won't remove fluoride.
Stop using dental products containing fluoride. Some gets swallowed, but more may be absorbed thru the thin oral mucosa and sublingual capillary beds. There is no benefit to teeth, despite what every conventional dentist will tell you. Never use a fluoridated toothpaste. Never use a fluoride mouthwash. NEVER give a baby any formula made with fluoridated water (tap water or fluoridated bottled water).
Start working on changing the corrupt laws that allow fluoride waste products to be added to our water. Contact your politician. Sign petitions. Start a movement. Join an existing one.
Fluoride was once considered a universal toxin, and we have forgotten that, much to our detriment. It's time to learn anew what is now old news.
There is no need for fluoride in dentistry, and there isn't even a need to discuss alternatives since the science promoting fluoride is flawed. The faith we as a society might have in fluoride being beneficial in some way was created by mass marketing and media influence, not science.
It's important to choose an alternative dentist who is up-to-date with current knowledge. You shouldn't have to worry about whether your dentist is using toxic materials on you or your children. Dentists have been taught that fluoride is beneficial and poses no risk. Biological dentists recognize the toxicity of fluoride and will avoid using it during your dental visits.
Choosing a biological dentist means you are choosing a toxin-free dentist. In our office, our materials are fluoride-free. Our dental cleaning paste is fluoride-free. Even the water in the chair lines and drinking water is fluoride-free.
The truth about fluoride has been written about in books and discussed in documentaries that are readily available. There is enough information to put to rest any remaining questions about fluoride's purported safety and efficacy.
